FAQs
What does a BAS Agent do?
A BAS Agent is registered with the Tax Practitioners Board and authorised to provide BAS-related services under Australian tax law. This can include preparing and lodging BAS and IAS, reviewing GST coding and managing certain ATO interactions on behalf of a business. BAS Agents work within a defined scope of registration and must meet ongoing compliance and professional education requirements. Registration details can be verified through the Tax Practitioners Board register. Businesses should confirm a provider is appropriately registered before engaging BAS-related services.
